Thursday, August 12, Day Four
Not many pictures from today - and none from the worksite. There was so much rain, I decided not to risk the camera. We worked for about 2.5 hours anyway, and we got pretty wet - even with ponchos, garbage bag ponchos, rain gear, etc... We took down the forms (40 pounds per section) which involved steady work from the whole group, undoing latches, unscrewing two by fours, cleaning the forms and loading them on the truck. After that, unfortunately, it had rained so much that we were concerned about safety. Plus we were doing more damage to the site - we don't want any more mud in the ditch, since we'll have to dig it out tomorrow. So home to the center we headed, where we worked on leaving our mark on the building. All of the groups have painted signs somewhere on the inside of the building, so we're leaving the mark of "The Church with a Heart". The garbage bag girls were so muddy and wet that they made skirts out of garbage bags for the ride home.
(Note from webguy: This is probably why Dave looks like he's ready for a well-deserved break! -See closeup photo below.) Thursday night, a local teacher came and taught us square dancing and line dancing. We sure got our exercise. Keep us in your prayers for a last day of good work.
